I found this Mid-Century hexagonal drum table at a local thrift store for a steal! I loved the shape, the cane accented doors and the original ring pulls. It is very sturdy and in good shape other than some signs of wear and tear from years of use.
I started by removing the pulls and cleaning it well with a de-greasing cleaner. It didn't show any signs of bleed through so I didn't prime. I gave it a quick scuff sand and applied three coats of Waverly Chalk paint in Ink. Ink is a velvety matte neutral black that compliments the detail on this table beautifully.
In between coats of paint, I cleaned the pulls with Bar Keeper's Friend to remove the tarnish and bring back the natural shine.
I decided the gorgeous feet were getting lost under the solid black table so, I gave them a coat of gold paint at the bottom of the legs to help them pop. Once the paint was dry, I sealed the entire table with Waverly Clear Wax.
The Drum table cabinet provides a nice large storage nook for books, magazines, laptop and accessories, coloring books, remote controls, lap blankets, extra decorative pillows...whatever you want!
This is the finished Mid-Century hexagonal drum table.
It will be a unique addition to any room and can be styled in so many ways. The neutral black will compliment most home decor styles. Boho, cottage, cottage core, glam, traditional, and ecclectic to name a few.
Let me know in the comments what room you would use this table in and how you would style it. I love hearing other peoples ideas!
